COMPANY HISTORY

Our Story

Fritz Wahlfield Sr. started Fritz Wahlfield Construction in 1954 pouring concrete footings and foundations. As he prioritized building relationships with clients, over time he added masonry, carpentry and eventually excavating to the company's list of trades. Fritz Sr. landed his first general contracting jobs in the 1960's and he continued to pour his heart in to the company until his passing in 2016.

In 1977, after gaining knowledge and experience from his father, Fritz Jr. (CEO) joined the company and worked alongside Fritz Sr. to grow the company as a leading general contractor in the Grand Rapids area by creating longstanding relationships with clients lasting well over 15 years.

Fritz Jr.'s son, Fritz III (President), became a full-time employee in 2002. Starting at the bottom with janitorial duties, he worked his way to becoming a third-generation owner by continuing to expand the partnerships into new markets and carry on the company's legacy and goal of "Building It Better".

In 2020, Fritz Wahlfield Construction marked a legacy of growth and success by opening its new company headquarters. The building was intentionally designed and constructed on the literal foundation of the company’s original home, honoring its legacy.

Symbolizing the strong base that the company has been built upon through three generations, the company holds true to the same values as when it began in 1954.

Building relationships is the first foundational building block of every project we undertake. All of our clients receive direct communication and collaboration with the owners of the company throughout the entire construction process.

RELATIONSHIPS

As framing is to the structure of a building, so is the communication to a relationship that is built. By keeping communication open and honest right from the start, we set the framework of our relationships with personal attention to each client.

COMMUNICATION
