At a Glance:

A complete renovation of the Life EMS Control Center at their Grand Rapids headquarters was completed in 2023, transforming the space into a modern, high-performance emergency dispatch facility. This EMS facility renovation project involved extensive demolition and structural work, including shoring of two floors to accommodate concrete removal, in order to support the new layout and infrastructure.

The project included full upgrades to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, ensuring reliable performance for a 24/7 operations environment. The redesigned space now features a range of functional areas to support staff and operations, including new gang restrooms, a supervisor’s office, a breakroom/mother’s lounge, locker room, conference room, and 12 call station cubicles designed for efficient emergency dispatch workflow.

Additional improvements included the installation of tamper-resistant exterior windows, enhancing building security, along with new flooring and tile finishes throughout the space to provide durability and a clean, modern aesthetic.

This project highlights a comprehensive approach to emergency operations center construction and renovation, delivering a secure, efficient, and technology-ready environment to support critical EMS dispatch and response services.
