At a Glance:
During the summer of 2021, Sheldon Woods Elementary School completed a comprehensive K-12 renovation and site improvement project focused on enhancing campus safety, infrastructure, and interior functionality. The project included the addition of a new covered and secured main entrance, along with significant sitework and targeted interior upgrades.
A key component of the project was the installation of a secure entry vestibule, featuring new commercial storefront glass and upgraded windows at the administration office. These improvements provide clear visibility for school personnel, allowing staff to effectively monitor and manage building access while maintaining a welcoming entry point.
Sitework improvements included the removal and replacement of the existing force main, septic system, and drain field, ensuring reliable infrastructure and long-term performance. Additional concrete flatwork was completed to improve accessibility, circulation, and overall site usability.
Interior renovations focused on enhancing both student and staff spaces. The existing gymnasium stage was demolished and replaced with two new multi-user restrooms, improving accessibility and functionality. The teacher’s lounge and workroom were updated with new finishes, and several classroom bathrooms received updated casework for improved durability and storage.
To further strengthen building security, electronic door locks were installed on select existing doors, supporting modern access control and school safety standards.
This project highlights a well-rounded approach to elementary school construction and renovation, combining secure entry design, infrastructure upgrades, and interior improvements to create a safer and more efficient learning environment.
