During the summer of 2023, Lakewood Elementary School completed a comprehensive interior renovation and HVAC upgrade project, transforming nearly the entire building in an accelerated 12-week construction schedule. This K-12 renovation project focused on modernizing interior finishes, improving functionality, and enhancing overall building performance.

Interior upgrades included the installation of new flooring and fresh paint throughout classrooms, corridors, and shared spaces, creating a cohesive and updated learning environment. The gymnasium was also renovated to align with recent upgrades across other West Ottawa elementary schools, ensuring consistency in design and functionality throughout the district.

Classrooms, teacher spaces, and meeting areas were enhanced with new casework and modern furniture, improving both usability and comfort for students and staff. These updates support flexible learning environments and collaborative spaces within the school.

A major component of the project was a full mechanical system upgrade, providing air conditioning throughout the entire building. This improvement significantly enhances indoor comfort and supports year-round learning conditions.
