Details

Kentwood Public Schools requested A/C upgrades to multiple classrooms and offices at Valleywood Middle School. The challenge with this project was that Valleywood was originally constructed in the 1970’s and had been added onto many times over the years. The goal was to ensure that all of the classrooms and offices would be equipped with air conditioning.

The windows on the east and west sides of the building were removed and replaced with new commercial grade aluminum storefront windows. New exterior doors were installed on the south side of the building, and some interior doors were also replaced throughout the building.

The plans called for selective demo to remove the existing horizontal unit ventilators (HUV) as well as some masonry work to accommodate a new vertical unit ventilator (VUV) specified for each space. This new HVAC equipment was selected to match what had been previously installed in the building.
