In 2020, Challenger Elementary received an expanded parking lot and pedestrian pathway. This upgrade addressed some safety issues to ensure a safe transition at the beginning and end of the school days. The parent drop-off/pick-up lane was extended and separated from the bus drop-off area, and a new bus loop was created to accommodate a smooth traffic flow for all of the buses that go in and out every day.

The Elementary school also received a new HVAC system. Each classroom and office area was equipped with air conditioning along with a new LED lighting package and ceiling grid. A new air handling system and chiller were installed to power all the units.
